YEAR ■ 2006 – 2007

The Bordeline is a book-object, an imponent and enigmatic container, from which have been made 60 numbered copies. Each copy includes twenty original works of art, made one to one by the participant artists. The works have been assembled in the interior of the steel container (as chapters of a book); a warm book, old, looking hermetic but easily manageable. Each numbered copy is acompained by a originality certificate signed by all and each one of the artists.

The “book” The Borderline, is developed on several suports and techniques, sculptures in marble, painting, engravings, photographies, video, music and literature, all acompained by a luxurious catalogue mentioning the contained works as well as comments of the authors and several details of the making of the project.

The Borderline, titled as an evocation to the “expansive thought”, is maybe the most emphatic graphic work made and published in Extremadura, Spain.

Alternatively discoursing between the abstracts and figurative creations, the authors adopt a provocative actitude, willing to transgress the usual limits, playing with the antitesis and paradoxes, iconigraphically and literally. And, as a stimulating proclaim, they know that there is a way to make things that is not the way to make things. No doubt that the basis of this actitud is nothing but the capacity of the Human being to send and receive figures and words from plural points of view. Which requires, in unavoidable correspondence, the free decision to break all the aesthetic and maybe ethic conventions. “Nulla ethica, sine esthetica”, as the great José María Valverde liked to remember.

The metalic ants, the pluridimensional cubes, the marble helices, the carborundum engravings, the unsuspicious photographies, the soundtracks, the fictional croniques and other creations kept in this amazing drawer, are a real bibliographic jewel.
